PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), along with all TelkomGroup operating companies, demonstrated a real commitment to supporting disaster relief efforts in Aceh by deploying 118 TelkomGroup volunteers to East Aceh and Aceh Tamiang Regencies. This humanitarian action is part of the BUMN Peduli program, which collaborates with Danantara to support recovery efforts for disaster-affected communities. The volunteers will depart for the aid locations following a readiness roll call for BUMN Peduli Volunteers held at Kualanamu Airport, North Sumatra, on Friday (12/19). The roll call was led by Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria and attended by BUMN leaders.
In his remarks, Dony Oskaria emphasized the importance of BUMN's continued presence in the community, especially during disasters. As agents of development, all BUMN employees also have a responsibility to directly assist affected communities. "As part of the state, state-owned enterprises have a responsibility to always be present with the community, especially during difficult times. This presence is not merely symbolic, but rather a form of concrete action to help restore conditions and strengthen the community's hopes," said Dony Oskaria.
In line with this directive, Telkom President Director Dian Siswarini, on a separate occasion, stated that TelkomGroup's participation in the BUMN Peduli program is a manifestation of the company's social responsibility and concern, demonstrated through concrete actions. "TelkomGroup is committed to fully supporting the BUMN Peduli program and always being present for the community, especially during the current emergency situation in Sumatra. Through TelkomGroup volunteer representatives and the humanitarian aid distributed, we want to ensure that our presence is truly felt by the community," Dian concluded.
Dian added that synergy and mutual cooperation between BUMNs are key to accelerating post-disaster recovery. "We believe that coordinated cross-functional collaboration will strengthen recovery efforts and help communities get back on their feet," she added.
As part of this humanitarian mission, TelkomGroup also distributed social assistance in the form of 10 barrels of clean water with a total capacity of 75,000 liters, as well as clothing and baby supplies weighing a total of 1 ton. All of the aid was transported using a fleet of 11 trucks, consisting of 10 trucks carrying clean water and one logistics truck.
Agung Tri Cahyono, General Manager of Telkom for North Sumatra, explained that TelkomGroup's aid was distributed directly to communities in the disaster-affected areas. "TelkomGroup dispatched 118 volunteers and 11 aid trucks. We distributed this aid directly to the affected locations, five villages in East Aceh and five villages in Aceh Tamiang, so that the communities could utilize it optimally," Agung explained.
This is not the first time TelkomGroup has participated in humanitarian efforts. Previously, TelkomGroup has also distributed various forms of aid to disaster-affected communities in Aceh and Sumatra, both in the form of humanitarian aid and connectivity support. Furthermore, TelkomGroup continues to work optimally to restore infrastructure and digital telecommunications services. To date, 95% of TelkomGroup's infrastructure has gradually recovered and is ready to support the community's digital communication activities. Meanwhile, the recovery process is ongoing, with progress in Aceh reaching 85%, while North Sumatra and West Sumatra are 99% stable.
Through the active participation of volunteers in the BUMN Peduli program, the distribution of humanitarian aid, and cross-SOE collaboration, the company's commitment to ensuring a faster and more targeted recovery process is evident. Going forward, TelkomGroup will continue to play an active role not only in disaster management but also in supporting sustainable social development, strengthening resilience, and community recovery.
